Hail storm resources

We get a lot of questions about hail. Each hail storm – and hail stone – is different, and we can help you understand why.

The same hail storm can be very damaging to some buildings and leave others alone. Both the hail itself and the location and structure of the building will make a difference in a storm.

  • Hail stones. How many, how big and how solid the stones are will vary greatly.
  • Wind. How fast and in what direction the wind is blowing will change how the hail comes down.
  • Roof. The pitch, condition and age of the roof matter - the steeper the roof, the less damage can be expected.

Even next door neighbors can be impacted differently by hail. Your neighbor may have significant damage while the same storm leaves your home unharmed.
